Eat Well....

Have you heard the saying "You are what you Eat"? The quality of food we put into our bodies is exactly what we will get out of our body"
Growing bodies need great nutrition. They need all the vital nutrients and minerals for their rapid growth and development. Eating "raw" and "fresh" as much as possible is the key to great health for you and your family. Raw and fresh foods contain essential nutrients which is a far superior food choice compared to muesli bars, roll ups, chocolate bars and Mc Donalds to name a few. It is vital to encourage great eating habits at an early age to set them up for life. Growing bodies cannot function at optimal levels if the food we are putting in is not of the highest quality.
Think of this, " would you fill your car up with unleaded petrol instead of diesel?" and if so would you expect your car to run as if it was on diesel? These questions apply also to the human body, great fuel is required to make your body work better, function at optimal levels, to achieve more, be more productive and to grow and develop. Processed, packaged and fast food options have unfortunately become the food of choice for its availability, accessibility, easiness to prepare and increase salt and sugar making it addictive and appear to be more tasty.
Did you know what these types of foods contain? They contain partially hydrogenated oil, brominated vegetable oil, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colours and flavours, benzoate perservatives, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, MSG, olestra, sodium nitrite and nitrate. This creates a cocktail for obesity, heart disease, stroke, decreased energy, poor immune system, learning difficulties, overworked and stressed digestive systems, sluggish metabolisms- and this is what our kids are eating!
It is vital for the future of our community, our world and of course our children to be eating nutritious foods over a lifetime.

The Port Melbourne Football Club was established in 1874 and were admitted to the then VFA in 1886 and is one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

Port Melbourne has been known as the Borough since its formation, a ‘nickname’ that dates back to the time that the local area was known as the Borough of Port Melbourne before it became a town in 1883 and a city in 1919.

No other VFA/VFL Club can boast the Borough history or tradition or its success, no other club has won more VFA/VFL Premierships (15) played in more Grand Finals (33), finished in the top 4 (27) or played in more finals series (66).

In 2008 the Port Melbourne Club embark on the trail of their quest for their sixteenth premiership under the guidance of former Hawthorn champion Gary Ayres who brings to the Club a wealth of experience having coached Geelong & Adelaide into AFL Final Series.

The Club has recruited former AFL players Dylan McLaren and Cory McGrath to add to the impressive list of last season when Luke Livingston, David Spriggs, David Fanning and John Baird joined the Club. Add the veterans in Luke Cotchett, David Pitt, Matthew Smith, David Robbins, Ryan McMahon and young players such as Robin Nahas, Sam Pleming, Adrian Bonaddio, Chris Cain, Brad Sutcliffe and Sam deBruin and you have an excellent list of players who will carry on the Boroughs proud tradition.

The Port Melbourne Football Club has, and still does, play an important role in the Port Melbourne and wider Port Phillip community representing our community in the State of Victoria in the most popular sport and at the highest level.

So why not become a proud member of the Borough in 2008 contact the Club now and join the ‘Force’
